Guangxi Province
Like Yunnan and Guizhou provinces, South West China‘s Guangxi province is home to several traditional ethnic minorities (or rather majorities, as they make up 75% of the province’s population) with their own languages and animistic religions. Traditional architecture is also particularly well preserved here in the form of Wind and Rain Bridges such as the one pictured below, Drum Towers and the houses of the minority peoples.

Guangxi’s capital, Guilin, is about 24 hours by train from either Beijing, Shanghai or Kunming, the capital of Yunnan Province. There is also a overland route from Guilin to Kaili in Guizhou Province which passes through fascinating and beautiful areas. It takes about 20 hours and requires changing bus several times, for example in Chengyang, Zhaoxing, Conjiang. See the Guizhou page for a description of this route.
Other major attractions in Guangxi include its karst hills and rice terraces.
